Disposal platform wins new
converts

epyx, an automotive software provider,
has recently seen an increased interest in its disposal platform,
which links vehicle lessors to dealers allowing them to access
ex-fleet cars and vans.

The Meriden-based company said that in the last
three months of 2008, around 250 dealers signed up to 1link
Disposal Network, which was launched several years ago and has thus
far reached a total of 1,250 users.

1link, which is part of a range of e-commerce
platforms developed by epyx, allows dealers to bid for and buy cars
and light commercial vehicles even before they are de-fleeted,
alerting potential clients when vehicles that match their
specifications become available.

According to the software provider, the growth of
the last months was partially “recessionary-driven”, as “companies
have been looking at their cost base, and what e-commerce allows
them to do is to process transactions with more control, at a lower
cost and more accurately.”

Ken Trinder, epyx’s head of business development,
said that a number of major leasing companies have signed up to
dispose of vehicles through the 1link disposal platform, adding
that he expected strong growth in 2009.

The 1link product range comprises a total of four
platforms, covering functions such as vehicle procurement,
maintenance, hire, disposals and relicensing.

According to epyx, it has already been adopted by
more than 12,000 service providers and many top UK vehicle lessors
and motor manufacturers, on behalf of their franchised dealer
networks.

INCHCAPE FLEET SOLUTIONS

Extranet enhancements for
online management

Inchcape Fleet Solutions has launched new
generation extranet sites to enhance its online fleet management
and company car solutions.

The car leasing company’s new sites, which are
being rolled out to all major fleet customers, are bespoke
solutions which meet their requested specifications.

Inchcape Fleet Solutions’ MD Terry Bartlett said
that they were part of the company’s “focus on being a
customer-centric provider both in terms of technology and,
crucially, people support.”

The sites use the latest Microsoft.net technology,
providing improved functionality that enables fleet managers and
drivers to configure the extranet “dashboard” to meet their
personal requirements. The company said that it would provide a
“full range of support”, covering operational and reporting
capabilities including a series of reporting and information
interfaces with finance, HR and payroll systems.

It added that features ranged from enabling company
car drivers to generating an online quote, using a rate book that
allows them to order a vehicle based on their personal criteria and
in accordance with fleet policy, to enabling fleet operators to
gather data on a particular vehicle and arrange online vehicle
services and maintenance.
