Central Ambulance Services NHS
Trust wanted ‘standard fleet management software’.
Jaama has won a deal to provide the South
Central Ambulance Services NHS Trust (SCAS) with a fleet and
workshop management system for its 1,000 strong vehicle fleet.
The fleet software supplier will provide SCAS with
a comprehensive solution for its vehicles, including lease cars,
rapid response cars and motorcycles, ambulances and patient
transport vehicles – as well as workshops and a vehicle
commissioning unit, which is responsible for adding specialist
equipment to vehicles.
The solution, Jaama’s web-based Key2 Vehicle
Management and Workshop Management system, was chosen as a result
of a tender, the company said.
SCAS head of fleet Rick Stillman said: “We wanted a
standard fleet management software system across the whole of the
service, so we could accurately gauge fleet costs and manage
workshop parts much more effectively to reduce vehicle
downtime.

By GlobalData“We wanted complete visibility across all parts of
the fleet for all vehicle and workshop administrators.”
Stillman said he now expects a better fuel
monitoring, as the system should be able “to drill down into the
reports and identify real world pence per mile operating
costs”.
“Previously we have only been able to identify
costs by department and not by vehicle. The Jaama system will
enable improved fuel monitoring and that should help us to deliver
cost savings across the fleet,” he said.
The introduction of Key2 also enables SCAS to
have an improved driver and accident management and to centralise
its fleet administration in one Southampton location.
The implementation of the new technology is
now underway with 24 users undergoing training.
