Vehicle valuation company Glass’s has
warned LCV buyers to consider at the time of purchase the
specification needs that used buyers may have further down the
line.

Failure to consider these needs at
time of purchase could cause problems when they come to resell

Residual values of LCVs suffer at
auction particularly when fleet or rental buyers are unclear how to
specify the vehicle adequately to meet the used buyer’s
requirements.

Glass’s chief commercial vehicle
editor George Alexander said: “There are some basic steps you can
take. For example, when buying a new van, it is wise to consider
how it will be perceived when offered as a used van and to whom it
will appeal.”

Condition also plays a part in LCV
residual values, according to Alexander, as damaged or disfigured
bodywork can count against a used van’s worth.
