The chief executive of Pendragon has
called for the government to extend the £2,000 scrappage
scheme.
Trevor Finn said that the scheme
had given the retail group “reason for some guarded optimism”, with
July’s new car registrations up 2.4 percent compared with the same
month in 2008.
However, the uplift provided by the
scrappage scheme will not last forever, with predictions that the
government’s £300 million pot could run out as early as
October.
