A third of motorists now consider car clubs to be a viable
alternative to car ownership, according to a study.
However, 68 percent of respondents still replied in the negative
to the question: “In the current economic climate, would consider
giving up your car and joining a car club instead to save
money?”
This response shows that car clubs still have a long way to go
before they become more popular than private car ownership.
According to CarPlus.org.uk, there 42 car clubs in 37 towns and
cities across the UK, representing 64,177 members and 1,402 cars,
up from only 250 club cars in 2000.
