The 2015 model diesel Ford Fiesta was the fastest selling car on Autotrader in 2015, taking an average of 29 days to sell.
Autotrader noted the Fiesta was one of the fastest selling cars in all but on region, and that Wales and East of England both saw Fiesta’s sell especially quickly.
The 2012 model petrol Vauxhall Insignia and 2012 hybrid Toyota Prius were the second and third fastest selling cars, respectively, with both also taking less than 30 days to sell, on average. The Prius was also the first alternatively fuelled car to be among the top ten selling cars.
The 2015 model diesel Kia Sportage and 2012 diesel Mercedes-Benz B Class both took an average of 30 days to sell, rounding out the top five.
While 2015 new car registrations may have seen petrol cars grow in popularity, according to SMMT figures, six of the ten fastest selling cars were diesel.
Karolina Edwards-Smajda, Auto Trader retailer & consumer products director said: "2015 has been a phenomenal year for Ford, topping both the new and used car lists with its Fiesta model. The versatile and economic hatchback is likely to only increase in popularity as Ford announce plans to make their vehicles even more efficient at the Detroit motor show last week."
