Leasing company ALD Automotive has landed
a three-year, sole supply contract hire with maintenance framework
agreement with Thames Water. The lessor said its ongoing investment
in its IT capabilities had been “crucial” in winning the deal.
Thames Water has a 2,700
-strong fleet, including 1,600 LCVs, 700 company cars and 50
HGVs.
The vans are a mix of Ford and Vauxhall brands and
are on five-year replacement cycles, while the company cars are all
Vauxhalls and are on three-year contracts.
Some 500 vehicle leases are set to expire in the
current financial year (to 31 March 2010), and ALD will undertake
to supply replacements, taking over from the current system whereby
a variety of suppliers lease vehicles to Thames Water.
Terry Loizou, group fleet and transport services
manager at Thames Water, said: “We have a number of vehicle leasing
suppliers, but we wanted to consolidate arrangements with one
organisation to increase efficiencies and further improve fleet
management reporting.”
ALD beat around 30 other fleet providers to win the
deal.
