Online car marketplace YesAuto has signed a partnership deal with SpinCar, a car merchandising software company, to enhance its used car buying offering.

“Buying a used vehicle has historically required a physical visit to the dealership in order to get a real sense of the car’s condition, appearance, wear and tear, mileage and more,” said Neil You, general manager at YesAuto UK. “However, with 360° WalkArounds, dealers are able to offer consumers an interactive, transparent and easy to use shopping experience right online.”

SpinCar’s technology will allow buyers on YesAuto to see all aspects of the car online, from different angles both inside and outside. Shoppers can spin a used car in a complete circle and fully examine it to ensure it meets their requirements. They can pan and zoom in on critical areas of the vehicle and click on additional information embedded into certain views. YesAuto is also looking at introducing behavioural-led algorithms and intuitive comparison tools.

“Interactive digital merchandising is no longer optional. Bringing the physical showroom experience online is critical to success since that’s where the vast majority of the shopping journey takes place, which is why rich digital engagement directly increases vehicle purchase rates,” said Devin Daly, SpinCar co-founder and chief executive officer.

“As YesAuto continues to grow its presence in the UK, we’re looking forward to providing more dealerships with the latest experiential automotive technology, enhancing the buying journey for dealers and shoppers alike.”

YesAuto is the European arm of Autohome, the online car sales portal in China with an 80% market share and 750m page views a day. The company also operates in Germany, with plans expand to other regions. The business has more than 3,205 dealerships across the UK, up from 1,559 signed up at YesAuto’s official UK launch in August 2020.

Earlier this year, the company signed a deal with sustainable mobility firm Arval to feature an additional 170,000 leasing deals on the YesAuto platform.
