Used hybrid cars have emerged as the fastest-selling vehicles in April 2025, according to Auto Trader, a UK automotive marketplace.

These vehicles are selling at a record pace, lingering on forecourts for an average of just 25 days, six days faster than in April 2021.

The trend highlights the growing demand for hybrid vehicles in the used car market, according to the marketplace.

In the past 12 months, used cars aged five to ten years have consistently sold the fastest, averaging 23 days on the market this month.

Cars aged three to five years have matched this pace, also selling in an average of 23 days.

This shift indicates a market interest across different age brackets of used vehicles, stated Auto Trader.

Hybrid vehicles dominate the list of fastest-selling used cars, with six out of the top ten being hybrids.

The petrol hybrid Mercedes-Benz GLA leads the pack, selling in just 6.5 days on average.

The Vauxhall Grandland follows in second place, selling in seven days on average, despite a slight improvement from 7.5 days in March 2025.

Full and mild hybrid vehicles are now matching petrol vehicles as the fastest-selling fuel types in the UK, taking an average of 24 days to sell.

This marks the fastest month on record for full and mild hybrids since 2017.

The average price of hybrids has decreased by 11.5%, from £28,352 in March 2024 to £25,260 in March 2025.

At a market level, the average vehicle price in March 2025 was £16,915, reflecting a 1.30% increase from March 2024, when the average vehicle cost was £16,695.

Auto Trader data & insight director Richard Walker said: “With strong demand demonstrated by this speed of sale data, it’s vital to remember that price is not the only lever available to help secure sales.

“Pricing strategy should be aligned with market data available on Auto Trader so you can be sure you’re maximising profit potential on every vehicle. Improving advert quality could be a better way to sell your stock quickly without losing profit, so consider checking your Auto Trader Performance Rating first.”
