Dealership acquisition, expansion and closure news from
around the UK

Snows Motor Group and Motorwell Ltd have
reopened two of the seven Southgate Motor Group sites closed when
the company entered administration in November.

Snows will reopen Southgate’s former Peugeot
and Mitsubishi franchise in Romsey as a Peugeot dealership while
Motorwell take charge of the Bridport showroom, which will continue
to function as a Mitsubishi dealership. Buyers are yet to be found
for Southgate’s dealerships in Andover, Blandford, Poole,
Southampton and Winchester.

Specialist luxury car dealer group Sytner, the
second-biggest in the UK, has acquired the Isaac Agnew Group’s 16
Northern Ireland dealerships for an eight-figure sum, its largest
purchase since 2006.

Chinese manufacturer Geely is looking to
launch across 40 dealerships in the UK this year,
following Korean carmaker Ssangyong’s rapid expansion
including new
franchises in Wolverhampton, Russington and Strabane
in the
last few weeks.

Pentagon, the Vauxhall dealer network, has
decided to close its Ashbourne branch after 14 years of trading and
servicing on Derby Road. Customers will be directed to the group’s
Burton-on-Trent and Derby sites and Pentagon hopes to avoid the
redundancies of the six branch employees.

Isle of Wight dealer Harwoods will add
Vauxhall to its roster of Fiat and Renault brands from February as
part of its showroom expansion at Lushington Hill.

North Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire dealer
group F Cross & Sons have been bought by Marshall Motor Group,
meaning Marshall will now add Volkswagen to the 27 brands it
already represents with VW sites in Grimsby and Scunthorpe. The
acquisition will also add the Scunthorpe Kia franchise to
Marshall’s 67 existing sites.
