Stellantis has announced its compliance with the UK’s Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mandate for both cars and vans in 2024.
The company’s adherence to the Vehicle Emissions Trading Scheme (VETS) was propelled by ‘strong’ electric vehicle (EV) sales across its 11 brands, with 30 electric models available in the UK market.
Last year, Stellantis reported the sale of 39,492 electric cars, marking a 59% increase from 2023. These figures translated into a 10.3% share of the electric car market.
Additionally, the company sold 7,821 electric vans under the Stellantis Pro One umbrella, which includes Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroën, and Fiat Professional brands. The total is as many as the second and third-placed manufacturers together.
This earned Stellantis a 35.6% market share, making it the UK’s top electric van maker for the year, the company said.
The company further noted that its compliance with the ZEV mandate came amidst a challenging market environment that necessitated substantial adjustments to its business model and operations.

By GlobalDataStellantis has also indicated plans for a proposed consolidation of its UK manufacturing footprint.
Stellantis UK group managing director Eurig Druce said: “Stellantis welcomes the UK Government’s consultation on the phase-out of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030 and support for zero-emission transition. Our ambition for 100% zero-emission vehicles is clearly explained in our Dare Forward 2030 strategic plan – our goals are aligned.
“Put simply, if the UK is to achieve its transport emission ambitions, and for EVs to represent 80% of new cars sold in 2030, then consumers are going to need more encouragement from the government to do so.”
In September 2024, Stellantis’ commercial unit Pro One opened its new global commercial vehicles hub at the Mirafiori Automotive Park 2030 in Turin, Italy.
