Startline Motor Finance is launching Startline Academy, an education and training initiative in response to the rapid growth of remote working in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a Glasgow-based company with a presence across the UK, remote working has been an opportunity to re-examine how the company does business.
Paul Burgess, chief executive of Startline Motor Finance, said: “The situation created by the pandemic has really made us look at our people afresh, at how we can best meet their wellbeing needs and also help them to develop new competences in a work world where in-person contact is much reduced.
“Startline Academy is part of our answer to that shift. We’re not just looking to improve the skills of our staff in terms of what they bring to the business but create a greater sense of corporate unity and emotional intelligence around our approach.
“Especially, we are trying to put in place an infrastructure to ensure that people who are operating remotely get the support they need.”
Startline Academy covers three key themes – driving operational excellence, managing and developing, and organisational resilience incorporating staff wellbeing – and all training delivered will be reinforced through an online platform.

By GlobalData“The introduction of the initiative has been well-received by our staff,” said Burgess.
“For the last few years, we’ve undertaken an annual staff survey and completed the latest in 2020 Q4. It shows there is overwhelming support for home working to continue in some form, with employees citing factors such as improved productivity and better work-life balance.
“The research also indicates that staff have a high level of optimism about the future, which is very pleasing. Since the start of the lockdowns, they have performed above and beyond in what have been challenging circumstances for everyone and we’re grateful for their efforts.”
