Spain’s car renting association AER (Asociación Española de Renting de Vehículos) has appointed Jose-Martin Castro Acebes (pictured), 55, as its new president.
Castro Acebes replaces Agustín García who has been at the helm of the Association he helped establish more than 18 years ago.
AER was founded in October 1995 and today represents the commercial vehicle leasing and renting sector in Spain. It currently has 21 members, representing “more than 99% of the market,” AER said.
In November 2018, Garcia announced his intention not to seek reappointment when his term ends on 28 July, the date the incoming president will take over.
Garcia is however expected to stay on in an advisory capacity to the AER board.
Garcia told Spanish online website Fleet People: “In 2018, after more than 50 years of professional life, I decided that I had to think about my succession and, now, I think the ideal occasion has presented itself.
