Siemens has launched a Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS) offering that encompasses the design, installation, management, and financing of electric charging infrastructure and fleet and energy management for businesses.

Named Depot360, this service aims to accelerate fleet electrification by reducing barriers. It allows fleet operators, including bus and haulage companies, to outsource charging infrastructure deployment and maintenance with no upfront cost, under a predictable monthly payment plan.

Siemens’ end-to-end approach seeks to lower the costs and skill requirements for deploying EV charging infrastructure, aiding fleet operators as the ban on petrol and diesel cars approaches in 2030.

Charging-as-a-Service (CaaS)

Depot360’s offerings include Depot360 CaaS and Depot360 Managed Services, part of the Siemens Xcelerator platform, which supports organisations in digital transformation.

Depot360 CaaS provides consultation and financing for depot design, construction, and management. It addresses fleet size, grid connection, charging infrastructure, depot management software, and maintenance.

Depot360 Managed Services uses data-informed management and preventative maintenance to optimise charging and fleet infrastructure. Integrating with telematics, it ensures vehicles meet required charge levels, minimising downtime. The Depot360 AI platform and Siemens’ 24/7 Network Operations Center enable proactive issue resolution and operational transparency.

Depot360 was launched at Siemens’ Transform 2024 event in Manchester, attended by over 4,000 industry leaders and policymakers.

Bernard Magee, Managing Director for eMobility at Siemens, stated, “Depot360 addresses the main barriers to fleet electrification: upfront investment costs and the time and skills needed for installation and maintenance. Charging-as-a-service models like this will be essential for achieving a near-universal electrified transport mix within the next decade.”
