Roadchef has installed six new 360kW electric vehicle (EV) chargers at its Pont Abraham motorway services on the M4 at junction 49, Carmarthenshire, Wales. The high-powered units, equipped with CCS connectors, are compatible with a wide range of EVs.
Alongside the new chargers, visitors to Pont Abraham Services can access two hours of free parking, free Wi-Fi, and a selection of food and retail outlets, according to a press release.
The expansion comes as a UK Parliament public accounts committee report highlights disparities in EV charging infrastructure. Roadchef’s investment strengthens Wales’ network, adding to the 678 rapid and ultra-rapid charge points available across the country.
With EV adoption rising, as noted by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), Roadchef’s investment supports the transition to a low-emission transport network.
