Renault Retail Group UK has appointed Michal Kalina as managing director, replacing Len Curran, who became director of European Operations in July.
Kalina joined Renault in 1991 as commercial manager and then commercial operations director of the brand in Poland, before becoming general manager of Renault Enfield in 2000. He returned to Poland in 2003 to establish Retail Group operations for the brand, later becoming its managing director.
He will now oversee the franchised dealer network of Renault, Nissan and Dacia in the UK.
Aggressive landscape
Kalina will take charge of a mixed dealer finance landscape, with a slight drop in the contribution of finance to Renault’s global operating margin for the first half of 2013.
Renault’s planned revival, having shed sales and dealerships over the past two years, has included the launch of the latest Clio model, its first retail-focused electric vehicle (EV) and finance promotions on its Captur crossover model, which the brand has posited as holding the highest residual value (RV) in the market.

By GlobalDataSimilarly, Nissan has shown favour for its Leaf EV model, marketed on an ‘aggressive’ PCP following adaptation of Renault’s model of leasing the battery of EVs, while Dacia has also made play of the high RV on the Duster and marketed the model with a £99-a-month PCP offer.
