Renault has announced the price of battery hire for the ZOE, the brand’s first 100% electric vehicle (EV), will be £70 a month on a 36-month term with a mileage limit of 7,500.

Unlike with Nissan, Renault’s sister brand, captive finance provider to both marques RCI Financial Services (RCI FS) will be leasing the battery to EV customers, separately to the vehicle.

Battery hire will be £90 a month for a 12-month term, £80 a month for a 24-month term and £77 a month on a 36-month hire with a 9,000-mile limit; £85 a month with a 10,500-mile limit and £93 a month with a 12,000-mile limit.

The ZOE supermini is taking reservations now, for £49, and will be in showrooms from spring 2013, available at a starting price of £13,650 after the UK government Plug-In Grant deduction.

Renault and RCI FS have put great faith in their EV offering to revitalise sales, with RCI FS managing director Steve Gowler predicting a rise in Renault UK sales with the introduction of ZOE and Dacia vehicles.

Similarly, several brands, including Nissan, are putting their faith in superminis, a segment showing retail dominance, with fourth-quarter finance offers.
