Two-fifths of West Midlands used car buyers have problems with finance, mileage or paperwork, according to vehicle information supplier HPI.
The latest used car survey by HPI also reveals 30% of second-hand car buyers surveyed performed no paperwork or mileage checks to confirm vehicle ownership history, although 21% paid specifically by bank transfer or cheque to add protection to the transaction.
The survey also recorded 43% of men and 35% of women felt they didn’t get a good deal on their latest purchase.
Just over half, 51%, of women consult a friend or family member before a purchase, compared to 27% of men who would take along somebody they felt was more knowledgeable to a used car purchase. 50% of all buyers in the North East brought someone with them to the purchase of a used car.
Used car buyers in Northern Ireland were the most satisfied, with 83% of respondents in the region believing they got a good deal, compared to 49% in the East Midlands.
