Used MPV prices rose the fastest of any vehicle type in May, climbing 15.6% or £472 compared with April to £3,499, according to figures released by vehicle remarketer Manheim.

Year-on-year the used price of the average MPV had risen 31.8% or £844 by the end of May.

Other sectors that saw strong improvements over the previous month were the higher end sectors such as executive vehicles, for example the Audi A6, compact executive vehicles, which includes the BMW 3 series, and coupe models.

Executive models, usually relatively unpopular in the used market, rose £406 or 7.9% on April’s prices

A segment that saw a fall in values was the small hatchback market, which had a decline in values of £107 or 4.7%, month-on-month. Over the twelve months to the end of May, however, the small hatch remained popular and saw values rise by 6.8% or £139.

Overall used cars were also coming to market at a younger age in May with the average used vehicle coming to market MPV segment?? dropping five months in age, while mileage fell 7,883 miles.

In the executive segment, prices rose in line with the fall in age of three months and mileage of the average model declined by 2,451 miles.

Overall the used car sector saw a decline in mileage of 511 miles, while the age of vehicles coming to market remained consistent at 101 months.
