Car search website, Motors.co.uk, has launched an electric vehicle hub in response to growing customer demand for alternative fuel vehicles (AFVs).
The hub includes a guide to understanding electric cars, including the logistics and requirements for charging. It features a buying guide directing customers to vehicle reviews for specific cars they may be considering purchasing.
Data from a report by Motors.co.uk, and fellow Cox Automotive company Modix found that buyers are less likely than ever to consider a diesel or petrol vehicle for their next purchase, with new drivers (those aged 18 to 24) most likely to choose electric models.
A migration to hybrid is being driven by those in London and the South East. Influenced by falling prices, wider options and taxation benefits such as a reduced congestion charges, more than a third (39%) of car buyers in Greater London said they would consider a hybrid for their next model.
Dermot Kelleher, director of marketing and business intelligence at Motors.co.uk, said: “The growing uncertainty around the affordability of diesel, combined with environmental pressures to ‘go green’ has undoubtedly shifted consumer mindset to research and consider AFVs for their next car purchase.
“With more than four million online searches for electric vehicles in the last 12 months, we know there is clear consumer demand for expert information about electric car ownership. This online hub offers a wide source of information for buyers considering a switch to electric or hybrid and provides them with the ability to find one to purchase all on one website.
