Motor Auction Group (MAG) has announced the purchase of a five-acre site in Goole, Yorkshire, which will be transformed into a new dedicated light commercial vehicle (LCV) auction centre following a £5 million investment. The new facility is set to open in the first quarter of 2025.

Located just 0.5 miles from junction 36 of the M62 and within easy reach of the M18 and A1(M), the site already features a large office building, refurbishment facilities, electric vehicle chargers, and hard-standing areas capable of accommodating over 600 LCVs.

MAG plans to construct a dedicated auction hall and a vehicle inspection facility, aiming to create one of the most modern, purpose-built physical LCV auction centres in the UK. Once fully operational, the site will be capable of selling over 12,000 LCVs annually, based on two weekly sales. It will also offer a range of pre- and post-auction services for both vendors and buyers.

The expansion comes as MAG looks to increase its auction footprint, following growth in its weekly LCV sales at its Bawtry site. The Goole facility will also allow MAG to optimise its operations at its 10-acre headquarters in Rotherham, creating more space for dealer, fleet, and finance sales programmes.

Initially, the Goole location will host one weekly physical LCV auction, with plans to expand to two sales as volumes grow. These physical auctions will complement the twice-weekly timed LCV auctions run from MAG’s Corby digital centre.

Matt Gill, Director of MAG, said: “In the last 18 months, we have seen a significant increase in volume in our LCV auction programme. We are proud to announce this substantial investment to further support our national and regional LCV customers.

“The Goole site provides us with the space we need to continue to grow, and its proximity to three major motorways puts it within easy reach for our vendors and buyers. It will be one of the most modern facilities of its kind in the country, and we very much look forward to welcoming existing and new customers when it opens at the end of Q1 2025.”
