Peter Schreyer, chief design officer at Kia Motors, has been appointed president of the company, the first non-Korean to hold the post.
Schreyer, originally from Germany, joined Kia from Volkswagen Group in 2006 and led the design strategy for the Sportage, the cee’d range and other models including the Picanto and Rio.
The last two updates from Schreyer’s design tenure, the Carens and a sports model for the cee’d, are due to be released this year.
Last year Kia’s sister brand Hyundai began a joint venture with Santander Consumer Finance to provide retail funding for both brands in the UK under the name Hyundai Motor Finance.
