The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is setting up a dedicated phone helpline to help small businesses in preparing for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The service will go live on November 1, and will be based around the ICO’s existing general helpline.
Additionally, the ICO is streamlining its “12 steps to take now” infographic guide to GDPR compliance, as well as providing a GDPR checklist.
It also plans to publish a comprehensive “guide to GDPR” by the end of the year.
Information commissioner, Elizabeth Denham, said:
“There are 5.4 million businesses in the UK that employ fewer than 250 people. When it comes to data protection, surveys show they tend to be less well prepared.
