The European new car market saw a very slight year-on-year decline in October 0f 0.02%, according the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA).
A total of 1,104,506 vehicles were sold in the month.
A number of countries saw sales decline, including two of the so called ‘big five’ markets. French sales fell 4% year-on-year to 155,194, and German sales fell 5.6% to 262,724.
The biggest fall by percentage came from the Dutch, however, where sales crashed 22.2% compared to October 2015.
There were some bright spots, however. UK sales saw some growth in the period (up 1.4% to 180,168), as did Spanish (+4.0%) and Italian (+9.7%) sales.
