A new data partnership between EMaC and cap hpi aims to enhance mileage validation for dealers, helping to identify discrepancies through the National Mileage Check and National Mileage Investigation Service.
The collaboration will integrate EMaC’s mileage data points into cap hpi’s database, which aggregates information from multiple industry sources. This will enable dealers, consumers, and other stakeholders to compare reported mileages against a verified historical record, improving accuracy in vehicle transactions.
Liam Finney, commercial director at EMaC, highlighted the benefits of the partnership, stating: “Both cap hpi and EMaC share a passion for helping dealers operate more efficiently. Our new data partnership will help check vehicles with mileage issues with greater accuracy and speed. Ultimately, this will allow dealers to buy and sell vehicles more safely and boost profitability.”
The National Mileage Register (NMR) investigation service was recently relaunched to provide faster and more comprehensive assessments when mileage discrepancies arise. If an HPI Check flags a potential issue, the NMR process analyses data from over 20 industry sources to confirm a vehicle’s true mileage.
Developed in partnership with Trading Standards, the investigation compares a vehicle’s current mileage against the NMR database to verify accuracy. With access to over 500 million industry records, the streamlined process saves dealers time and money while improving transparency in the used car market. Instant certification is issued for cases without discrepancies, while flagged issues trigger immediate alerts and a more in-depth review by an expanded team of 15 operatives.
James McCarthy, sales manager, key accounts at cap hpi, commented on the partnership: “Our new data partnership with EMaC is the latest investment in our data platform to ensure it provides an accurate and timely picture of a vehicle’s mileage and history. We are committed to working with industry-leading partners, like EMaC, to ensure we can continually enhance the data and services we provide to the automotive industry.”
