Volvo Cars has appointed a UK sales director, as the company targets 60,000 sales a year by 2020.
Matt Galvin will have responsibilities for both the new and used vehicle segments. He originally joined Volvo as UK head of dealer operations in December 2015, and was previously used car and remarketing manager at Mercedes-Benz UK.
He also covered positions within BMW, Renault and international franchised dealer operator Jardine Motors.
Galvin said: “We have a new and dynamic product range that’s provoking great critical acclaim and customer interest, helping us reach record-breaking sales levels. My job now is to take new and used car sales to the next level.
“Since the launch of the XC40 and V60, and with the new S60 arriving early next year, our focus to attract new customers to the Volvo brand has to intensify in order to underwrite our growth ambitions to 2020 and beyond.”
Volvo has been paying close attention to its vehicles’ used market presence. Used car sales grew by over a third since 2015, and hit just under 47,000 units last year.
