Digital auction will remain the dominant channel after Covid restrictions are lifted, predicts CD Auction Group.
Since the start of the first lockdown, the company has seen the number of dealers using its online auction platform double. Research conducted by the firm found that dealers trust the online auctions and actually prefer the efficient service and enhanced imagery available.
Andy Pearce, managing director of CD Auction Group, said: “The industry faced a watershed moment through the pandemic, and we believe that the changes are here to stay. Feedback from our vendors and buyers tells us that they value the efficiency of online channels and today’s technology takes away many of the barriers.”
The appointment of new managing director Andy Pearce in April 2021 followed record trading as the industry emerged from lockdowns. Auction volumes increased by 72% in the first quarter of 2021 against the same period in 2020.
The company also recently launched a new logistics service for dealers, in partnership with Reemaq. The service will enable users to manage all end-to-end transport moves and administration on one centralised digital platform.
Through an audited network of plated drivers, transporters and inspect and collect services, users can access a national network supplier who bid for each move on a time and cost basis.
