General Motors (GM) has appointed Alan Batey as senior vice president of Global Chevrolet, which accounts for over half of GM’s global sales.
Batey will also become a member of GM’s Executive Operations Committee and serve as head of US sales, service and marketing for Chevrolet, Buick and GMC, having previously been vice president of US sales, service and marketing, and interim global chief marketing officer.
Batey started his career as a mechanical engineering apprentice for Vauxhall UK in 1979, and has since held senior management positions in a number of countries, including a spell as chairman and managing director of GM Holden Ltd Operations in Australia and New Zealand before joining Chevrolet in the US in 2010.
In the UK, Chevrolet announced last month it would use GM Financial as its captive finance provider in the UK following the reacquisition of many of Ally Financial’s global operations by GM.
