Auto Trader has seen the largest increase in online visibility among car dealership brands over the past year, according to a new report from Salience Search Marketing.
The company’s annual sector report assesses digital prominence and brand awareness across the industry, identifying the top performers in the online space.
The report examined 11 key performance indicators, including year-on-year visibility, search volume trends, and organic search traffic, to rank the leading car dealership brands. Auto Trader emerged as the brand with the most significant growth, recording an 18% increase in visibility.
Other brands also experienced substantial growth. Piston Heads saw its online visibility surge by 76%, while Cinch registered a 56% increase, securing a traffic score of 532,608 for 2024. CarGurus and Motorpoint also posted gains, with increases of 23% and 35%, respectively.
However, several brands faced setbacks. MOTORS recorded a 19% drop in online visibility, while Parkers saw a 27% decline. Evans Halshaw experienced a 32% fall, and Cazoo’s visibility plummeted by 76%, leaving the brand with a traffic score of 217,857. Heycar had the most significant decline, with its online visibility dropping by 79%.
