June was another bumper month for the HPI
CrushWatch service, with vehicles representing more than £2,990,000
of outstanding finance being recovered from potential destruction
by police.
For the second consecutive month, the amount
recovered has fallen just a few thousand pounds short of £3m –
approximately 20% more than every other single month this year.
There were 5,209 CrushWatch enquiries in June, resulting in 518
successful identifications of vehicles that were illegal and which
had outstanding unpaid finance. Ford was the most common marque
recovered (104) for the first time this year. Vauxhall, which have
topped the recoveries list all year, was relegated to second place,
with 82 recoveries.

The three most valuable vehicles confiscated
by the police were a £74,950 Ferrari F430 Spider F1, a Bentley
Continental GTC worth £55,825 and a £48,000 Bentley Flying Spur.
For the first time in 2011, Greater Manchester police led the way
for the monthly total value of recovered vehicles (£281,900),
followed by Strathclyde (£271,100) and West Yorkshire
(£179,725).
