of the intricacies of money management most are advertised as being
published to the chagrin of the industry.

for good reason.

There is no hyperbole in the pages of Car

. There are no back cover slogans
offering ‘the secrets finance companies don’t want you to know’.
Partly because car finance companies benefit by offering their
products to a better informed public, partly because regulation
compels them and partly because Hill’s book eschews eye-catching
and dramatic promises.

Instead, Hill, a broker and consultant in the
business with 25 years’ experience, offers a straightforward map
for consumers and small businesses to select the finance product to
fit their needs and an explanation of the recourse available should
things go wrong.

Jargon, regulation and the needs of both
consumer and industry are deconstructed. Emphasis is placed on
taking time to assess the worth of any particular source or model
of finance and, in times of hardship, to keep in regular contact
with creditors and funders.

As much as the book could be a useful standard
to car finance customers, with the occasional interjection from
Hill of his own experiences, it may prove more useful for F&I
managers to keep to hand for sales staff now compelled to
understand and explain finance to consumers.
