Fleet lessors issue downtime management policies in attempt to win new business
Lex, Arval and BT Fleet among the lessors focused on keeping vehicles on the road. Increasing numbers of lessors and fleet management companies are offering ways of minimising vehicle downtime, Motor Finance research has revealed.
Small is best
A handful of smaller leasing companies such as Equalease have recently emerged as lessors specialised in short-term leasing, while larger companies such as Arval and Pendragon Contracts have introduced specific products alongside 36 and 48 month-long leases for those customers who do not want to commit to long term contracts.

Black Horse’s Chris Sutton is new FLA chairman

Sutton is consumer finance director for Black Horse Motor and Personal Finance parts of the Lloyds Banking Group. He replaces David Betteley, director of financial services at Jaguar Land Rover, who is standing down as FLA chairman after three years.
Glass’s: “outbreaks of optimism” in used CV sector
Commercial vehicle operators should try and identify existing opportunities to purchase used vehicles, according to vehicle valuation specialist Glasss. George Alexander, chief CV editor at Glasss, said that despite the level of confidence remaining so frail, there are still a few outbreaks of optimism where profit opportunities have been identified, as shown by key recent trends According to Glasss Guide, the used LCV segment has been performing strongly at auction particularly Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Astra Club models, while demand for Vauxhall Combo has recently improved.
Zenith Provecta wins deal with Alliance Medical
Diagnostic imaging solutions company Alliance Medical has outsourced the fleet management of its 300 company cars to Zenith Provecta. The fleet management firm will provide a full fleet management solution including servicing, maintenance, and accident and risk management, with a dedicated account manager for Alliance Medical drivers. Alliance Medical head of procurement Steven Horton commented: Our primary objective was to work with a fleet management company that could provide our employees with a high quality service at a competitive cost
Budget expands airport rental business
Car hire company Budget is planning to launch new businesses at six airport locations in 2010 Liverpool, Exeter, Bristol, Newcastle, East Midlands and London City Added to its current car hire locations, Budget will now have 60 stations in the UK and 3,400 stations worldwide
Broadway: used van finance deals on the rise
The number of used van finance deals is increasing for the first time since the recession began, according to Broadway Motor Company. The GE-owned used light commercial vehicle specialist said that the number of used vans and trucks are now double the level of 12 months ago. According to Ian Griffiths, national sales leader at Broadway, the new trend depends on more used buyers opting for finance, as well as more of them being accepted for finance.
