UK dealership network Hendy Group has completed the acquisition of south coast-based Westover Group for an undisclosed sum.
Hampshire-based Hendy becomes a £1bn turnover company as a result of the deal, employing more than 2,000 employees across the south of England.
Hendy chief executive Paul Hendy, said: “Westover is a hugely successful group and shares our philosophy of delivering a premium service and putting the customer and its employees at the heart of operations.
Hendy Group now operates 26 franchises from 83 outlets following the deal, and strengthens the firm’s portfolio in Dorset, where it already operates truck dealerships.
“It’s very much business as usual and all the dealerships will continue under the Westover name for the immediate future as the business is integrated into the Hendy Group,” Hendy continued. “Our investments and acquisitions in the last few years have put us in an extremely good position for the future and the integration of Westover will strengthen this position still further as we continue to look to the future.”
Peter Wood, chairman of Westover, added: “Westover has been my passion now for more than 40 years and to find a suitable company to hand it over to which has the same ethos of looking after its staff and customers has not been easy. We believe that in Hendy we have found that.”

By GlobalDataEarlier this year, Hendy Group renewed its partnership with vehicle remarketer Manheim, in a deal which enabled 32,000 cars and LCVs to pass through the auction company’s lanes over a four year period.
At the time, Manheim’s group sales director, James Leese, said: “Together, we’ve developed a highly effective auction programme, with strong buyer interest for Hendy Group cars at our Manheim Bristol site, and commercial vehicles in Manheim Colchester.”
“This is an exciting time of growth for Hendy Group, and we look forward to providing them with the expertise and service they need to ensure their remarketing programme continues to go from strength to strength.”
