Low-carbon BMWs for health care

Fleet lessor Alphabet has provided 99
low-carbon BMW 3 Series cars to Novo Nordisk, a health care
company, on a three-year, fully-maintained basis including accident
management, with an annual mileage of 23,333 miles.
None of the cars emits more than 123g/km of CO2,
Alphabet said, and the contract was won on the basis of
“sustainability and performance”, said Alphabet’s director Mark
Sinclair.
Neil Britland, facilities and sourcing manager at
Novo Nordisk UK, said: “The environmental strategy of Novo Nordisk
has identified climate change as a key long-term environmental
challenge and as such our strategy incorporates a target to reduce
our CO2 emissions.”
Alphabet estimated that, over the life of the
contract, the 3 Series saloons – fitted with BMW’s
EfficientDynamics technology – will use 28 percent less fuel than
the average fleet car sold last year, equalling a saving of 65
tonnes of CO2.

contract
Alphabet and telecoms company Mitel have
agreed a three-year fleet deal, under the terms of which the lessor
will provide vehicles, accident management and daily rental in the
UK.
Mitel’s vehicle needs in the UK, France and Belgium
are met by Alphabet, which supplies 200 cars to the communications
firm’s UK staff on an open policy basis.
The contract was agreed with “virtually no
face-to-face contact between Alphabet and Mitel”, the lessor said,
as Mitel’s global fleet and travel manager Mark Brown managed the
contract from Ottawa in Canada.
Brown commented: “Modern communication, and having
a leasing partner that you can trust while offline, is the key to
being able to award and run fleet contracts over thousands of miles
and many time zones.”
Lombard Vehicle
Management
Lombard Vehicle Management (LVM) has won
a competitive tender to provide 2,000 replacement VW Caddy vans to
longstanding customer British Gas.
Five other leasing providers also bid for the
contract, LVM said, with the vans for central heating engineers to
be delivered from April. LVM is co-ordinating the management of
eight different suppliers in order to meet British Gas’s
specifications through its Van Sales unit.
In addition, the lessor is to provide British Gas
with 150 vans for apprentice engineers.
Lloyds TSB Autolease
Energy company E.ON has taken delivery of
101 Fiat Grande Punto vans, financed through Lloyds TSB Autolease
on a five-year, 150,000-mile contract hire basis.
The vans, for the meter-reading division of E.ON,
have been supplied by Fiat Professional, and are all equipped with
aircon and a speed limiter. The vans were selected following a
total cost of ownership evaluation, with the Puntos’ fuel
efficiency a significant selling point, E.ON said.
