Ignition Credit

Formula Renault

Ignition Credit has just announced a deal
with the Formula Renault UK Championship. The motor finance house
said it will provide the financing for half of the cars for this
year’s motor tournament.

Simon North, promoter for Formula Renault, said:
“Ignition Credit was recommended to me and they have put together
an excellent financing package at a very competitive rate. The
money has secured around half of the field of 20 cars, no mean feat
in such a difficult financial climate.”

North added that the Renault-Ignition partnership
is set to be “a long one”.

Ignition Credit MD Alan Tutte said the deal has
given the leasing company the opportunity “to show how flexible we
can be when it comes to finding the right deal for each and every
individual opportunity”.

Lombard

350-van Wakefield
deal

Lombard has been reappointed by social
housing provider Wakefield District Housing (WDH) to supply a fleet
of over 350 vans on an exclusive basis.

The first 180 units are already being delivered and
will be run on fully maintained four-year contract hire.

Lombard said it is providing WDH with a
“comprehensive technical solution”, handling the design and build
of the vans.

WDH fleet manager Rick Young said the organisation
undertook a “rigorous tender” and as a result it “reappointed
Lombard on the basis not only of flexibility but cost, technical
expertise and the fact that they built a model around a real
understanding of our business”.

WDH first appointed Lombard in 2006 to supply its
entire fleet for three years. In 2009 Lombard offered to extend the
contract for 12 months, which resulted in a saving of around
£200,000, the lessor said.

ALD Automotive

Sole-supply fleet deal for 170
LCVs

ALD Automotive has won a sole supply fleet
deal with locksmith, glass repair and replacement business Evander
Glazing & Locks to provide 170 light commercial vehicles.

The new vans are being leased on four-year,
100,000-mile contracts with mileage pooling. They are being
customised by specialist in-vehicle fitment supplier Bri-Stor
Systems.

The vehicle leasing and fleet management arm of the
Société Générale Group will provide a comprehensive outsourced
service, including fleet management, fleet maintenance, accident
management and short-term car hire.

As part of the agreement, Evander’s employees will
also benefit from the ALD Automotive affinity scheme, which offers
new and used cars at discounted rates.

Concept Vehicle
leasing

Builder benefits
deal

Concept Vehicle Leasing has been appointed
by the UK’s National Federation of Builders (NFB) to provide
“member benefits” to its 1,200 strong membership of builders,
contractors and house builders.

The independent lessor said it is putting together
a “range of benefits which will appeal to all NFB members”,
including discounted contract hire and leasing rates.

Concept will provide dedicated account management
through its Surrey and Derbyshire locations, and will also
“proactively” support the scheme by presenting and training NFB
staff and attending regional member meetings.

NFB training and membership services manager Karen
Dawes said: “We are very excited to be working with Concept Vehicle
Leasing, whose strong product portfolio and excellent customer
service levels meet the high standards required by both the NFB and
its members.”

Masterlease

Rugby deal

Masterlease has won a sole-supply deal with
the Rugby Football Union (RFU) to provide business vehicles and
ancillary services under a four-year agreement.

The deal builds on an existing relationship
between the two companies. The lessor conducted feasibility studies
and whole-life cost reviews to show that an exclusive partnership
would save the RFU money.

Masterlease sales and marketing directing Clive
Forsythe said: “Working with the RFU at HR, procurement and fleet
levels meant all the right people were making the right decisions
with the right information to hand.

“Winning the business was a satisfying conclusion
to a process that had been cerebral and engaging.”

SEAT

Historic fleet
ordered

UK energy giant British Gas has ordered 500
Seat Leaon Ecomotive – the largest fleet deal for dealer Seat UK to
date. The initial tender involved more than 50 models, Seat
said.

The deal was brokered by Seat UK’s fleet and
business sales team, led by Nick Andrews.

Andrews said: “The delivery of these exciting new
cars marks the culmination of months of hard work by the entire
Seat fleet and business team.

“This historic deal very clearly demonstrates our
determination to become a fleet manufacturer of choice.”

Hitachi

LCV trial in
Liverpool

Liverpool City Council is taking part in a
trial of hybrid-powered LCVs, with the vehicles – four Ashwoods
hybrid vans – supplied by Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions on a
contract hire basis.

The vans have been supplied via the £20m Low Carbon
Vehicle Procurement Programme (LCVPP), managed by Cenex on behalf
of the Department for Transport, and designed to enable public
sector bodies to trial green technology for their daily
operations.

Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions MD Jon Lawes
said: “Leasing companies are traditionally wary of largely unproven
technologies like hybrid-power, but we were very keen to partner
with Ashwoods to offer leasing as a funding alternative.”
