Caterpillar dealer goes with
Arval for
four-year fleet agreement.

Arval has won a deal with Finning
UK, the world’s largest Caterpillar heavy and general equipment
dealer, to provide 600 cars and light commercial vehicles.
The BNP Paribas-owned leasing
company will supply the UK division of Finning International with
around 200 cars and 400 LCVs on a four-year contract hire
agreement, which includes maintenance, short-term hire and accident
management.
From now on, Arval will look after
the entire fleet of Finning while the existing legacy fleet with
the former supplier is gradually being phased out.
The deal, Arval’s first agreement
with Finning UK, follows a large review launched by the Caterpillar
dealer at the end of 2009 to look at cost management, safety and
driver comfort, and environmental impact of the company’s
fleet.

specialists, procurement consultancy ADR international and Arval’s
in-house consultancy experts have been working on the project.
As a result of the review, Finning
decided to reduce the company car list from multiple manufacturers
to a list of three manufacturers and around 50 model variations
from over 3,000 initial model variations.
The company said it put particular
emphasis on manufacturer selection and the outfitting of the LCV
fleet, including a move from a standard Ford Transit model to the
Ford Transit Trend model, with additional features to monitor fuel
consumption and reduce idle time, as well as operational aspects
such as accident management, vehicle policies and short-term rental
requirements.
All new cars will be required to
have a number of safety and eco-friendly features, including a
minimum NCAP four-star rating, Electronic Stability Control (ECS)
as a standard and a maximum CO2 output of 160g/km.
