HPI CrushWatch, the online service helping
dealers and motor finance companies to identify vehicles that are
illegal or have finance payments in arrears, was used 5,586 times
in January, with police recovering vehicles valued at £2,448,196 in
total.
Two of the recovered vehicles were worth over
£50K, an Audi R8 4.2 Quatro SA valued at £51,555 was recouped by
Greater Manchester police and a Range Rover Sport with a price tag
of £50,300 by the Staffordshire force.

The top marquee recovered was Vauxhall, with
103 vehicles valued at £356,516. A total of 86 Fords were
retrieved, worth £263,661, followed by 32 Peugeots, worth £105,707.
Of the Vauxhalls, 37 were Astras, with a combined value of
£146,338.
In January, 511 vehicles were identified as
illegal or having finance payments in arrears. The West Yorkshire
Police came top in the value of the vehicles it recovered
(£358,230), followed by the Merseyside force (£287,532) and
Hertfordshire (£192,253).
