Peter Cottle, managing director of consultancy
Torque Finance, has been appointed as head of business development
at BEN, the automotive industry charity.

Cottle is a former senior director at Bank of
Scotland Corporate, where he was responsible for retail and
wholesale motor finance business: He said: “The UK’s automotive
industry is fantastic and has managed to emerge stronger from so
many challenges thanks to the ability of its people to adapt and
improve their skills. I am delighted to join the charity which
supports those people and the industry I love.”

BEN chief executive David Main said: “Peter’s
role is absolutely vital in raising both funds and awareness for
the work we do in the automotive industry. We want to create an
industry where everybody in need of our help and advice knows that
we are there for them and we know that Peter will open doors for us
and really spread the word. His understanding and affinity with the
industry is second to none.”

BEN provides practical, emotional and
financial support for those who work, or have worked, in the
automotive and related industries, as well as their dependents. It
also runs five care centres for the elderly.
