An unofficial rich list of the UK auto world has been compiled
by the Daily Telegraph’s Mike Rutherford.

Way out in first place is 84-year-old Sir Arnold Clark of Arnold
Clark Automobiles, whose ‘clan’ Rutherford claims is worth £467m,
with Sir Arnold adding £37m to his coffers in the past year.

Next well-off is 76-year-old Jack Tordoff of Leeds-based JCT600
which has 48 dealerships. Jack and his family have £290m.

In third place is Sukhpal Singh Ahluwalia with £225m, thanks to
selling his Euro Car Parts operation last year for £285m.

Then comes Sir Colin Giltrap, a long-term investor in the H R
Owen prestige car group who also has a Toyota dealership and is
reckoned to be worth £161m, up by £25m this year.

Fifth is Sir Peter Vardy and family, who became £5m richer in
the past 12 months and are now up to around £155m.

Michael Hunt, after his involvement in Nissan dealerships, is
sixth with £150m, followed by Tony Bramall, who worked for his car
dealer father in and near Sheffield, before taking a £46m stake in
Lookers, who’s worth £144m.

Eight and final place on the Rutherford list is 68-year-old is
Keith Bradshaw, who owns half of the Listers of Coventry dealership
and is estimated to be worth £140m.
