RCI Financial Services (RCI FS), UK captive finance provider for the Renault-Nissan Alliance, is releasing an electronic system to help customers receive financial clearance more efficiently.
The system, entitled EDISON (Electronic Document Identification and Signature Operation), will replace the previous paper finance agreement framework used by RCI FS.
The company estimates the e-signature pad will save over one million pages of paper per year and cut shared costs of £40,000 across the UK network.
Malcolm Banfield, RCI Financial Services Commercial Director said: Dealers will no longer need to print out multiple copies of finance agreements for customers to sign as with the new paperless system they can read it on the screen, and sign the pad to confirm.
Encouraging installation
The device, which includes a stand-alone PC and customer ID scanner also used at airports to check passports, will cost approximately £2,000. RCI FS is encouraging dealers to switch to the system with a £500/year deal, including installation and training.

By GlobalDataDespite the number of franchised Renault dealerships being reduced as part of a restructure programme, RCI FS has posted healthy results this year, with Steve Gowler, managing director, predicting 55,000 sales by the end of 2012.
The reduction of paperwork and emphasis on modern technology on the forecourt has also been piloted by Mercedes-Benz with an iPad application to showcase the B-class model but did not include a facility for finance options with the customer.
