British Car Auctions (BCA) will be training Honda dealers in car appraisal techniques throughout 2013.

A programme of full-day, structured courses will be led by BCA’s training manager Les Butler, aiming to teach good-practice in appraisals of part exchange and traded vehicles at the dealership and in the remarketing environment.

Butler said the courses, which will include use of BCA’s Appraisal Pro, Market Price and Smart Sell technology, will "give an understanding of how technology can help dealers conduct accurate, market adjusted appraisals."

He added, in the modern market, "benchmarking cars from a price guide is not enough" and dealers should conduct "thorough appraisals to generate accurate valuations."

David Willis, commercial training and recruitment project manager at The Honda Institute, said the institute was happy to have access to BCA’s "depth of knowledge and experience".

He continued: "Sessions are deliberately scheduled on live auction days at BCA remarketing centres nationwide, which means our participants will not only gain a great deal of valuable skills and knowledge, but also get the opportunity to appraise a selection of vehicles onsite, and see them subsequently go through the auction hall."
