Car retailer JCT600 has acquired nine car and commercial vehicle dealerships, two parts depots and a body shop from Gilder Group, the Sheffield-based dealer network, for an undisclosed "eight-figure sum".
The 12 sites have an estimated turnover of £200m between them, which JCT600 estimates will raise its own annual turnover to £850m.
The dealerships included in the deal are Gilder’s former Audi dealerships in Sheffield and Doncaster; Volkswagen dealerships in Sheffield, Chesterfield, Rotherham and Newark; VW Commercial Vehicle dealerships in Sheffield and Newark; and a Seat dealership in Sheffield; however Gilder will continue to operate its Honda dealerships in Sheffield, Rotheram and Chesterfield.
Family-owned and Bradford-based JCT600, which saw F&I director Simon Barrass present at the 2011 Finance & Leasing Association Motor Finance Convention to talk about the success of tie-ins with manufacturers over finance, has said that all staff will be retained.
John Tordoff, JCT600 chief executive, said the deal was the largest the group had ever signed, increasing its workforce by a third and its revenues by 30%.
