Malaysian car manufacturer Perodua has claimed its Myvi SXI model is the cheapest 1.3l, five-door car available through the Motability Car Scheme.
The scheme, which makes cars available on a low-cost lease to disabled drivers, was criticised in 2011 by the Sunday Times for allowing dealers and relatives of drivers to abuse it.
Perodua, which offered the Myvi on 0% through Close Motor Finance in October 2012, has made the SXI available from a starting cost of £46.23 a week through the scheme.
This would make the cost of a Myvi lower than other small, five-door cars such as those offered by Mazda in 2011 which the Japanese manufacturer called a "popular" choice for Motability.
